How would you like a crown or veneer in just one visit? What sounds like myth is actually a reality at the offices of Dr. Shawn L. Thompson, DDS.
We're proud to offer Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CEREC. This process enables us to create and install your dental appliance in one appointment. Most dental procedures of this type can span weeks. CEREC makes waiting obsolete!
CEREC’s amazing speed also provides these benefits:
Prof. Werner H. Mörmann and Dr. Marco Brandestini brought CEREC to the dental world. Developed in 1980 at the University of Zurich and used in successful practice by 1985, CEREC is the brand name of this technology owned by the Sirona companies. (Sirona Australia, Sirona Germany, Sirona USA, and others.)
A crown or similar appliance in one visit sounds great. But you’re probably wondering how it all works. The CEREC process at our office is straightforward:
The process takes approximately one to two hours. You leave our office with your permanent dental restoration. We might recommend a follow-up appointment to check your fitting.
A dental crown covers your tooth and restores it to its original shape and size while saving you the cost spent on a bridge or implant.
When you receive a crown, our staff will remove the decay from your tooth and then shape it to fit a crown. Our special camera scans your tooth, the CEREC machines uses the scanned image to create your crown, and when the design is complete, we fit and cement the crown to your tooth.
For best results, visit our office as soon as possible. Prevent the risk of a tooth fracture, the discomfort and expense of root canal therapy, or the need to pull a tooth.
Using CEREC for dental veneers, we match the color of your teeth then mill your veneer from a block of dental ceramic. After an inspection, Dr. Thompson bonds the veneer onto your tooth and you are on your way after just one appointment.
CEREC veneers provide many advantages:
We use CEREC inlays and onlays to restore teeth with small to moderate decay. Inlays cover one or two surfaces of the tooth, while onlays cover the chewing surface.
We use a convenient process to apply your CEREC inlay/onlay. We remove decay from your tooth. Then we scan the tooth to create a 3D image. Our CEREC system uses the 3D scan to design your inlay/onlay from dental porcelain. Dr. Thompson cements the fitting onto your tooth and then you’re done!
CEREC inlays/onlays match the shade and shape of your teeth. The process offers plenty of benefits:
